Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Alma Adams for Congress
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) has endorsed Alma Adams for U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina’s 12th congressional district.
Adams currently serves as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Alma Adams for Congress,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Alma Adams has fought for women’s health in the State House, and she would be a powerful champion for women as a member of Congress. Alma Adams has stood strong against attempts to cut women off from access to health care, and she has protected life-saving health care many men and women depend on.”
“We stand with Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s endorsement of Alma Adams for Congress,” said Paige Johnson, Vice President of External Affairs for Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central North Carolina. “There is no greater champion of women’s health than Alma Adams. She has led the charge in protecting, defending and expanding women’s access to health care for years in the state legislature. There’s no doubt she will bring the same formidable passion and proven leadership to the U.S. Congress.”
Adams faces primary challenges from six other Democrats in the May 6th primary. If she is victorious, Adams will go on to face a Republican opponent in the 2014 general election.
In 2002, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central North Carolina (PPAFCNC) began endorsing candidates for the NC General Assembly. Pro-women’s health voters trust the Action Fund to let them know which candidates will stand up for women’s access to health care in North Carolina!
Candidate filing for 2014 has ended. Our endorsement process is officially underway! Please visit our homepage for the latest endorsement news. We are currently working to make our endorsements of pro-women’s health incumbents and new candidates with a primary challenge.
