Planned Parenthood Action Fund Congratulates Alma Adams

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) endorsed Alma Adams for U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina’s 12th congressional district. We are thrilled that Alma emerged victorious from a tough primary race. She will not have a general election challenger. Please join us in congratulating Alma Adams!

Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsed candidate, Alma Adams (second from right) with Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central NC staff at PPAFCNC’s Champions of Choice breakfast this year.

Adams has served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Alma Adams for Congress,” said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Alma Adams has fought for women’s health in the State House, and she would be a powerful champion for women as a member of Congress. Alma Adams has stood strong against attempts to cut women off from access to health care, and she has protected life-saving health care many men and women depend on.”

“We stand with Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s endorsement of Alma Adams for Congress,” said Paige Johnson, Vice President of External Affairs for Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central North Carolina. “There is no greater champion of women’s health than Alma Adams. She has led the charge in protecting, defending and expanding women’s access to health care for years in the state legislature. There’s no doubt she will bring the same formidable passion and proven leadership to the U.S. Congress.”

Adams faces primary challenges from six other Democrats in the May 6th primary. If she is victorious, Adams will go on to face a Republican opponent in the 2014 general election.

Endorsements

In 2002, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central North Carolina (PPAFCNC) began endorsing candidates for the NC General Assembly. Pro-women’s health voters trust the Action Fund to let them know which candidates will stand up for women’s access to health care in North Carolina!

Please visit our homepage for the latest endorsement news. We are currently working to make our endorsements of pro-women’s health incumbents and new candidates for the 2014 general election. A full list of endorsed candidates will be available by the end of August.

If you are a candidate with questions about the Action Fund endorsement process, please contact Alison Kiser at alison.kiser@ppcentralnc.org.
